John Betts House is a private communal garden and is part of the Hammersmith United Charities’ Almshouses for the over 60s. The London Gardens Society awarded the garden first place and the Challenge Cup for best small community garden in 2017, and it was named runner-up in the same competition in 2018 and 2022. The well-planted garden features many interesting varieties, as well as hanging baskets, a greenhouse, citrus trees, grapevines, raised vegetable beds and balconies with residents’ award-winning container gardens. The residents are proud of their delightful, peaceful garden.
