London Open Gardens 2022 is likely to take place on 11 and 12 June. Check these pages nearer the time for the latest updates.
For one special weekend, London’s hidden green spaces open their gates for public enjoyment and discovery. With the purchase of a weekend ticket, you can explore a huge variety of gardens which are usually closed to the public – and enjoy a host of activities and experiences for all the family.
London Open Gardens highlights some of the best gardens and green spaces that make up the rich tapestry of London’s green infrastructure; but there are many others – just as valuable to their communities – which are in decline or under threat of development. Funds raised during the event mean that the London Gardens Trust can continue its work to protect them.
If you become a member of the London Gardens Trust now, your London Open Gardens ticket will be free. Find out more about Trust membership.
If you are interested in getting involved
To run this outdoor event, we will need volunteers. If you are able to help, please see further information.
If you represent a Community Garden, Allotment or Square
If you are a member of a Garden or Allotment Committee and would like to take part, please email us firstname.lastname@example.org. We can then arrange for one of our Area Coordinators to meet you and discuss what you will need.
Background to the event
Since 1999, the Trust has run Open Garden Squares Weekend – initiated by the founder Caroline Aldiss. In 2020 this event was forced to cancel due to the pandemic. In 2021 we ran the event as a virtual offering, London Open Gardens. For 2022, we hope to go back to an outdoor event, so you can meet the gardeners and experience the wonderful variety of squares, community gardens and allotments that make up London’s green infrastructure.
