The Garden

Formosa Garden is one of London's hidden gems - a triangular communal garden, created around 1860, and lined with pollarded plane trees. Under a 50-year Master Plan introduced in 2016, damaged specimens have been replaced by 45 new trees to date, including a couple of groves of silver birch. Several large island beds surround an impressive plane tree which provides the perfect focal point, particularly when lit for Christmas, and the large expanse of grass is much used by residents to enjoy picnics, children's games and social events such as the traditional Family Fun Day and Fireworks Display.

In the past couple of years, the gardening team have embarked on plans to lift the garden's visual appeal further. Residents hope that regular guests at London Open Gardens will notice the difference!
