Pearl and Mizanur's Memorial Garden is a community-created and community-run garden in the heart of Shadwell, running between Cornwall and Cable Streets on land leased to the community by Transport for London. The garden was created by local residents between 2022 and 2024 and is named in memory of two residents of the adjacent Maddocks House. Pearl Fullerton resided in the ground floor flat for over 50 years and had played in the green space next door in her childhood. Mizanur Rahman stayed briefly in the top floor flat of Maddocks House until he passed away in a fatal fire in March 2023. The garden commemorates these residents and provides a space of calm, peace and recreation that benefits plants, wildlife and the local community. The garden is one of four gardens and wildlife spaces created and maintained by residents on the Tarling West Estate.
