John Betts House
The Garden
John Betts House provides sheltered housing for the over-60s, managed by Hammersmith United Charities. This garden is an oasis of tranquillity providing residents with a place to enjoy the sights and sounds of nature. Many value the green space, reading the paper alone or catching up with a friend over a cup of tea. Some residents have their own small plots and pots to get involved in the practical nature of gardening, planting, watering and weeding at their pleasure. This is a sister garden to Sycamore House and features many interesting varieties as well as hanging baskets, a greenhouse, citrus trees and raised vegetable beds. In October 2025, John Betts House achieved third place and was awarded the bronze certificate in the London Almshouses Garden Competition's Small Community Garden category, run by the London Gardens Society.
