Sycamore House
The Garden
Sycamore House provides sheltered housing for the over-60s, managed by Hammersmith United Charities. This garden is an oasis of tranquillity in the middle of Shepherd's Bush and provides a space for residents to enjoy. Many immerse themselves in the sounds and sights of nature, reading the paper alone or catching up with a friend over a cup of tea. Some residents have their own small plots and pots to get involved in the practical nature of gardening, planting, watering and weeding at their pleasure. This is a sister garden to John Betts House and includes plants to encourage wildlife, a pond, pergola and a large community greenhouse. In October 2025, Sycamore Gardens achieved third place and were awarded the bronze certificate, in the 'large community garden, London Almshouses Garden Competition' run by London Gardens Society.
