Full Site Description
The area remained relatively rural into the C20th, although properties were being built from the C18th and C19th along the old London to Dover road {here named Bellegrove Road) and also along parts of Wickham Street, itself an old route towards Bexleyheath. The OS First Edition map shows properties on Wickham Street near the present site of the cemetery. Nearby Shoulder of Mutton Green, so-called due to its shape, was the old village green for East Wickham, which had existed since the early to mid C18th.
