As we embrace the arrival of autumn, I am reaching out to you with a special appeal on behalf of London Parks & Gardens. Every year, we protect London’s precious green spaces by providing detailed research, analysis and comment on more than 150 planning applications and developments and we respond to more than 350 consultations on potential projects which threaten our cherished historic landscape. Our small charity – less than the equivalent of two full-time staff – is dedicated to preserving, protecting and celebrating London’s famous green spaces in every borough that contribute so much to the health and well-being of our communities. For thirty years we have championed these vital lungs that breathe life into our city. Now, more than ever, we need your support, as challenges to protection of these spaces grow by the day. Unfortunately, this year we were unable to secure a sponsor for our focal celebration event in June, London Open Gardens, which we rely on to provide a surplus to support our tiny team and power our critical work. I therefore invite you to join us in making a lasting impact and help us in a moment of need. By making a donation today, you directly contribute to the future of London’s parks and gardens and empower us to campaign against encroaching development, to organise the annual London Open Gardens event and to compile our research archive of historic green spaces in London as a resource for future campaigners. Together, we can create a legacy of a greener capital city, deeper connections between people and nature, improved well-being and thriving ecosystems for future generations. Your support is a testament to your love for London’s green spaces and a pledge to safeguard them for many years to come. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts 💚 Todd Longstaffe-Gowan, President London Parks & Gardens |
