Prior to being laid out as a park, the area was fields. There was a proposal to purchase land north of Cleveland Road and east of Argyle Road for an extension of Pitshanger Park in 1914. However it was not until 1926 that the Town Council applied to the Ministry of Health to approve borrowing to purchase land north of Cleveland Road for a recreation ground. The small rectangular park is on sloping ground with good views north over Pitshanger Park and beyond.

Prior to being laid out as a park, the area was fields. There was a proposal to purchase 12 acres of land north of Cleveland Road and east of Argyle Road for an extension of Pitshanger Park in 1914, and Ealing Town Council agreed to offer landowners £750 an acre. However it was not until 1926 that the Town Council applied to the Ministry of Health to approve borrowing of £14,386 to purchase land north of Cleveland Road for a recreation ground. On OS maps of 1935 the current layout of paths in the form of a cross with a central point, and a further path running north to south along the eastern boundary existed, with a small shelter half way down the eastern side. The small rectangular park is on sloping ground with good views north over Pitshanger Park and beyond, largely grassed; the circular bed has roses surrounded by a broken circle of shrubs including ceanothus and privet. The eastern edge of the park has a shrubbery boundary and seating along its length. The south is bounded by railings over a low concrete wall with brick piers and has the main entrance with wrought iron gates of a similar style to the railings/piers at Dean Gardens (q.v.). Along this southern edge of the park are ornamental flower beds. The west edge to Argyle Road has hawthorn hedging. Throughout the park are various trees, one or two of which are mature, including willow. A notice board in the south west corner has information about the Brent River Park, which encompasses a number of green spaces including Cleveland Park.
